We're Taking The Pressure Off Self-Care 🩷

Hey Reader,

February can be a funny month. It’s short, it’s cold for a lot of us, and it comes with a lot of pressure to feel something...more motivated, more in love, more put together.

So, before we go any further, I just want to say this: you’re allowed to take this month at your own pace.

This month, I’m leaning into self-care and self-love in a way that feels gentle, realistic, and supportive. Not performative or exhausting. Here’s what that’s been looking like for me lately.

Letting routines be flexible instead of perfect

I used to think routines only “counted” if I followed them exactly. Same time, same steps, same energy every day. But lately, I’m learning that flexibility is the routine.

Some days, my morning looks calm and intentional. Other days it’s a little chaotic, and that’s okay too.

I’m reminding myself that consistency doesn’t mean perfection. It means showing up in whatever way I can that day. Giving myself permission to adjust instead of quit has taken off so much pressure, and honestly? It’s made everything feel more sustainable.

The simplest thing that’s helping me feel better lately

A good Epsom salt bath. Bubbles. A podcast playing in the background. That’s it.

Nothing fancy, nothing expensive. Just warm water, a little quiet, and something motivating to listen to.

It’s become my reset button when my body feels tense, or my mind won’t slow down. It’s a small act of care, but it reminds me that rest doesn’t have to be earned or complicated to be helpful.

Talking to yourself like a friend

I’ve been paying attention to how I talk to myself, especially on harder days. The things I say internally when I’m tired, behind, or overwhelmed are things I would never say to a friend I love.

So I’ve been practicing a simple shift: if I wouldn’t say it to someone else, I don’t get to say it to myself.

That means more patience, more understanding, and fewer harsh judgments. It’s not about forcing positive thoughts; it’s about choosing kinder ones.

Sometimes reading something supportive is its own form of self-care.

Your gentle February challenge

Do one kind thing for yourself each day.

It doesn’t have to be big. It can be drinking water, going to bed earlier, saying no, taking a walk, or giving yourself a break when you need it. Small kindnesses count, and they add up.

Before you go, I just want you to know: you don’t need to fix yourself. You don’t need to become a new version of you to be worthy of care. You’re allowed to move forward exactly as you are.

If you feel like it, hit reply and tell me how you’re really doing this month. I’d love to hear from you.

Rooting for you, always. 🩷
